History of Premier Comprehensive Secondary School Nkpologwu
A Legacy of Excellence
Welcome to Premier Comprehensive Secondary School Nkpologwu, a
beacon of academic excellence founded in January 1980 as Premier
Commercial College. Premier Comprehensive Secondary School has a
rich history rooted in educational excellence and community
engagement. Founded by an aspiring educator
*Elder Augustine I. Obi,* the school began its journey
and had it's initial location at Nkpologwu Town Hall from 1980 -
1987. The school moved to her permanent site with two gigantic
storey building at Obinabo Nkpologwu behind Nkpologwu Ultra
Modern Market with a mission to provide quality education, the
institution quickly became a landmark for academic development
in the region.
In 1989, Premier Comprehensive transitioned into a full
Secondary School and was recognized by the National Examination
Council (NECO) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC)
for its comprehensive curriculum. The school's dedication to
continual improvement was further underscored when it was
registered as a Continuous Education Center (CEC) by the old
Anambra Ministry of Education on 4th of September 1987, allowing
it to broaden its academic offerings and enroll even more
students. The school was selected among the centres for WAEC and
GCE in 1988. More accreditation of other examination like NECO
and NABTEB were done in 2004. Premier school and GTC Awka were
the first two vocational and Technical schools approved to take
NABTEB in 1996. Due to her outstanding achievements in dishing
out qualitative education, the school was renamed
*Premier Comprehensive Secondary School* in the year
2004. Up till now, Premier is still waxing strong. Moreso, in
the year 2020, the school started her Nursery and Primary School
and got upgraded in the year 2023 for a full fledged approved
Nursery and Primary School from Ministry of Education. The
school is in safe hand under the Managerial control of
*Comrade Ogonna Obi*.
Community Engagement and Achievements
Beyond academic excellence, Premier Comprehensive has made
notable contributions to the local community. The school
proactively engages with the public through academic
discussions, debates, broadcast on various radio stations within
Anambra environs, promoting education and sharing knowledge on
pressing academic topics. This initiative not only enhances the
school’s visibility but also encourages a culture of learning
and discourse within the community.
In addition to its academic pursuits, the school has a strong
sports program, hosting annual sports competitions within the
local government area. These events foster teamwork,
sportsmanship, and community spirit among students and their
families.
The School has witnessed continuous growth in enrollment and
academic performance, maintaining its commitment to providing
high-quality education. The school prides itself on developing
well-rounded individuals equipped with the skills necessary for
